Nested fields

Nested fields provide visibility and depth into additional resources related to your primary field.

Overview

Board editors and viewers both have access to view nested fields.

Nested fields allow you to query and reference additional data on an array, which is a list of elements for any field on a related object. When you build a board, you can relate fields beyond the primary object to view how different resources relate to each other.

Example

If you're building a Users board to see all the employees in your organization and want to connect an Applications object to ensure employees in your Sales org all have access to the latest version of Salesforce, you can add an Application name field to your board. Adding this field provides visibility into all the applications your employees have, but to find out an application version, you'll need to drill into a specific tag. You can click the Salesforce tag to view additional information related specifically to Salesforce.

Nested fields cannot be joined to primary objects, therefore are not visible on boards directly.

Nested data is viewable by clicking on any tag in an array list field. For any array that has several tags, you can hover and click on the expand button to view a menu and search through all items in the list. Searching an item will narrow the results in the menu.

After selecting a specific tag, a drawer will open that displays all nested data. You can easily toggle between items in the array and create new boards on the related object.

Filters

Stitchflow supports filtering on nested fields. This means while you can't view nested data on a board directly, you can view all nested fields in filters to apply conditions and drill down into the data you need.

Please note that while filters support nested fields, search does not. You can only search on data that is explicitly visible on a board.
